On The Couch 03:33
I know its hard to say what you feel But I get the feeling that this love ain’t real It’’s a matter of convenience A simple quirk, merely happenstance How it came to this, I’m not aware Once unique and now a common affair We’ve grown apart and slightly cynical No human touch, nothing physical Sit down on the couch Open up your mind, tell me all about you Like this, you’re not meant to like this Open up the line, show some spine Safe place, on the level These four walls are bound to silence Dig deep, feel free to weep Evacuate emotion lay it bare What was a nuclear heat is glacial cold When did our open posture curl up and fold Remember when our touch was not barren void Before our falling out that slip by Freud Now what’s broken is in need of fix A reboot, a reset, no more politics Some blame the psyche but I doubt that’s true Is it all in the mind or is it just you He can’t get it up She don’t give it out I do the dishes and wash the car

If these four walls could tell their tales Of lives that loved and lost for decades What would they say, what would they say about me? I can’t remember who it was that said That each night when they lay in bed And their thoughts drift away You can take a look at yourself How does it feel, how does it feel? Back in time I wondered why I did, I said, I acted so blind I have my excuses who’s to say they’re right?

Fragments of life, a palette of memories Scattered and fleeting, as dreamers paint dreams Late last night I shut my eyes and something strange Happened to my brain it seemed to be so deranged When I sleep I see something special and when I wake I question what’s real Late last night I shut my eyes and something strange Happened to my mind it seemed to reach another plane I can’t tell what is real, and what is not It’s not something I can explain Late last night I shut my eyes and something strange Happened in my head and reality is interchanged With visions, superstition all mashed into one collision I, I don’t know what’s real Late last night I shut my eyes and something strange Happened to me briefly I felt a little short changed I was up, I was steady, and not a little ready but then something I just can’t explain Late last night I shut my eyes and something strange I stood naked, blinded on a firing range As blue petaled bullets peppered all my working limbs I woke and questioned what’s real Late last night I shut my eyes and something strange Happened to some party that I tried to rearrange Old faces, life’s graces, metaphoric databases Is not something I can explain

Catching raindrops on a late spring time eve Catching tears from a season whose time has come As the cloud bursts and life falls free Refreshing their leaders, who took to their knee An invitation, to aggravation, to fight subjugation Catching raindrops under hateful, watchful eyes Catching tears from the enemies of the state As the cloud burst and life falls free Fighting off this so called, security An invitation, to aggravation, to fight subjugation Catching raindrops to wash away disease Catching tears from those who suffered loss As the cloud bursts and life falls free Giving life to those fighting hypocrisy An invitation, to aggravation, to fight subjugation

about

Right is the second of a trilogy of EP’s named ‘Left, Right and Centre’.

Lockdown provided the opportunity to polish up some old songs and outtakes in the Halloween Jack studio and sparked a creative hotspot which resulted in three EP’s of brand new material. The majority of songs featured on the EP’s were written, recorded, mixed and produced during the lockdown in spring and those that were written beforehand, came after Steel & Shade.
